B1-1 2Due to increasing speed in development of welding & inspection techniques and material technologies; the R&D Group was formed in 2010 for combining all dispersed R&D activities under one roof for a more concentrated effort in these areas.
 
R&D activities are financed by industrial test, characterization and analysis service revenues in addition to R&D funds of The Scientific and Technological Research Council and Ministry of Industry, and in house academic research funds.
 
The core areas of study are all conventional arc welding techniques, keyhole based hybrid welding of steel and nickel alloys, solid-state welding of aluminum and exotic metal alloys, process control and non-destructive inspection.
 
In addition to in house academic researches, the R&D Group is also in cooperation with international and local companies and institutions.
